Punk-O-Rama 7

Epitaph

Review by Phat Diddy

As you may have guessed, no, you haven’t, you haven’t even thought about it, but myself as well as Shane are “punk rockers” a lil bit. Sad to say I listen to the more mainstream (that shouldn’t even exist) punk rock, Blink 182, New Found Glory, Green Day, NoFX, yes, they are mainstream in my opinion, shit like that. And one of the series that every punker should have picked up at least one of, the legendary Punk-O-Rama series is gonna get its review of on. As you might know, p-o-r is a compilation of Epitaph signed bands, which in my opinion have probably the best assortment of kick ass punk bands anyways, starting #7 off is Millencolin, one of my favorite bands that I don’t know much about. I really like their sound and in this they don’t disappoint. After that is a bunch of shit, Pennywise is about average quality, not bad but crap my pants awesome. Then a shitty shitty song, and some NoFX, I hate to say it Fat Mike and crew but no me gusta this cover, they do Rancid’s “Olympia, WA” which was an awesome song originally, and which was disappointing when done by the immortal NoFX. I don’t think I’ve heard of Randy ever before but I liked the song they had on this, it seemed a little gimmicky but really catchy, looking forward to peep more of their shiz-nit out. Some other mediocre bands including the long over done for retirement Bad Religion and then, yay! a good song! I really like this Deviates song on here, it sounds super familiar and just good in general, it’s probably been on one of the many extreme sports games so if its familiar sounding I blame “the Hawk.” Skipping past craptacular Dropkick Murphy’s, then Rancid pulls a NoFX cover, with about the same results, not bad but not awesome, I enjoyed this cover more than NoFX’s though. Holy shit! There is some bad singing after Rancid, I disliked the hell out of Death by Stereo’s song, I’m pretty sure they were going for a metal sucks motif but it just came out bad. 1208, another band I don’t think I’ve ever heard of before had a nice track on here too, but Guttermouth, umm, I’m still not decided on whether I like this song or not, it’s a little campy, I’m rather undecided on it.

Wow, that was way too much typing, so overall, not a bad CD definitely not my favorite Punk-O-Rama by a long shot, but definitely worth the 3 or 4 dollars you’ll find it for! PUKE ON COPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
